Looking back at my many established blogs, each borne with a specific meaning, intention & purpose, I realize that I have not actively posted until back in 2017 - a special year fir me because of Canada 150 - and celebration of the year of my parents' anniversary, as well as the conception date/birth date according to an African tradition I love and have come to accept as part of mine own (as Ana & Evie used to say) The tradition posits that a child is "born" when the intention of that child enters the mindsz of the parentsz - which fir me would be the Spring of 1967, the African year of my birth...
I have tangented off topic & now must weave my way back to now - to today's blog post as a formal, informal & non-formal testament of thanksz & praise to whom I ow an ocean of gratitude fir the learning you so generously (& sum thymes know generously) shared with me. When I started with Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) I started in 1996 as a faculty member who learned through experiential journeywork the skills of delivering/ facilitating/ developing/ re-developing/ creating & conducting courses through alternate delivery... I became a full-time part of the alternate delivery team at NSCC in 1997 through the Refocusing Apprenticeship Initiative as a Curriculum Consultant with the minimum five years of required teaching experience. I continued to teach as a faculty member and became a continuing part of the NSCC Team in 1999 as a Curriculum Consultant at the second level of the required salary grid. I worked continuously with NSCC as a Curriculum Consultant / Journeyerson faculty member during my entire tenure at NSCC. Although the titles of my role changed with the funding of the particular projectsz to which I was assigned, I progressed through the completion of the Curriculum Consultant / Faculty salary position & competition grid. New hires to the then Virtual Campus/nee NSC Online Learning were hired as a new position entitled Instructional DEsigners as they had a lower level classification requirement & did not require a Master's Degree and/or at least five years of related Industry experience. Although I was promised by my senior level manager that I "...would not be disadvantaged by the new position and related processes, my position remained unchanged and I continued to work as hard as I could fir the job I so loved - helping make learning happen at NSCC.
After the retirement of visionary Refocusing Apprenticeship/Virtual Campus/Online Services /Online Learning manager, captain & team leader Mike Kidney, the Online Learning division became a seamless part of the comprehensive continuum of service delivery at NSCC. In the realities of now - with the Corona/Covid 19 changes in life protocols.procedures and policies the skill set of those helping facilitate alternate delivery aka distributed learning aka correspondence study aka all learning... Although Online Learning no longer exists as a seperate unit per se, the reach of its required changes relating to Universal Design fir Learning (UDL) and access to learning fir all leaarners has never been more relevant... Way to go NSCC with all its current team members & predecessors that helped & continue to help make learning happen... Thank you to the sun & back - you all shine brightly with radiance in different waysz according to your unique strengthsz...
Before I end this correspondence, a couple of clarifications are required...
*First * & foremost you will notice with this posting a couple of new shorthandsz I have taken on to use fir several reasonsz...
I purposefully use the word "fir" to replace for & fur - why you ask - the why is to pay homage to the trees that give us the air we breathe UNconditionally without any expectation of thanksz except perhaps that we all work together to take gentle care of this nest we share...
The second shorthand that becomesz visible in this post is that I now try to use all words ending with the letter "s" along with the letter Z...why - yet again - you may ask...I have become very interested in the lettersz of lettersz on the leavesz of leavesz of tressz of treesz... If one superimposes the letter s & z the result is a vertically positioned infinity sign... 8... the same thing happensz when the letter E is superimposed with the number 3... the result being another example of vertical infinity (8)...infinity spiralsz in all directions with light matter that can be perceived & dark matter that is more challenging to perceive...enerhy spiralsz infinityely in all directionsz irrespective of thyme, position, location, temperature, lightness, darkness &/or a slew of other environmental & circumstantial variablesz...
All fir me fr now...Sue (8)
p.s. In this season of blossomsz, I love different wildflowersz fir different reasonsz, but sunflowersz - the flower I carried at my wedding - will alwaysz, all waysz be one of my favouritesz...
